Do you remember that sixties rock foursome that changed the international pop music scene forever, before breaking up in 1970? Even casual listeners to the discography of the Beatles will notice a thread running through their music that speaks to a philosophical and spiritual journey. Did you know that John Lennon was deeply involved in a local church in Woolton, England for at least ten years? And that the fab four all had some religious/ theological education?

The book “The Gospel According to the Beatles” (Steve Turner, Westminster John Knox Press) is not trying to make the case that the Beatles were all secretly Christian. But it persuasively argues that themes arise in their songs that speak to universal human spiritual experiences. I think summer would be a great time to explore them!

Beginning Sunday June 24 we will delve into how a Beatles’ song and one or two passages of scripture can illuminate one another (and, hopefully, us!). I hope you will join us on this magical mystery tour!
